We were on another planet!

Well, it seemed like we were on another planet. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is appropriately named, that’s for sure! The park consists of unusual terrain that features a very nice campground, volcanic cinder cones, lava tubes, 500+ caves, great ranger led hikes, examples of lava types and on-going science research. That’s me popping up out of a lava tube.

After our visits to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, we thought Craters of the Moon might be a let down, but it wasn’t!

In September, we attended our first all-Airstream event, Alumafandango, in Jackson, California, at the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort. In July 2015 we took two weeks off and towed our Airstream up to Moss Landing, which is a little north of Monterey, California. We only towed between 200 – 300 (at most) miles a day so we made overnight stops both to and from. It’s a beautiful drive with lots to see and do.

Right after Christmas in 2014, we made a week long trek to Phoenix, Arizona to visit relatives. The RV parks we stayed in on our way there, in Phoenix and during our return were not very interesting. I’ll briefly mention the one in Phoenix only because we stayed there for four days. The other two were one night we need a place to stay campgrounds.
